Tuesday, October 24: Dancing in Tamale

Happy Baby is visiting a potential new partner in Tamale located in the North of Ghana. The project teaches young women how to sew, so that they can make a future income for themselves in an environment where youth unemployment is very high.  The project also serves as a youth cultural centre in the community. Young people come here to dance for an hour every day in the afternoon. It is a free activity and everyone can participate. The drummers and musicians also play for free. The group sometimes does performances to generate an income.
They also do community education through dance and storytelling. It was suggested that Happy Baby’s bonding benefits education could be adapted for communication in this way to new users in the village.
